Cees Sliedrecht

Born in The Netherlands Cees studied fine arts in The Hague and Rotterdam. After completing Teaching and Business Management studies he settled in Australia.

Cees is known for his excellent drawing skills and works in various media including watercolour, acrylics, pastel, graphite, and ink.

Cees interprets what he sees, never copying but rather creating a narrative of life around him. In his work Cees shows a unique blend of energy, life, light, movement, texture, rhythm and emotion.

Many of his works, painted in abstract and contemporary styles with layered aspects, challenge the viewer to further examine the piece.

Cees believes that an ideal artwork must have a life of its own, adapting to the viewer’s thoughts, mood and feelings, offering change, variety, conversation and engagement.

Cees has regularly workshops in Queensland and other parts of Australia. He also conducts art tours overseas including New Zealand, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, France, England and Italy.
